Backlinks from authority sites.

Date October 4, 2007

For the next few posts I am going to deal almost exclusively with the importance and the process of getting high quality backlinks.
Getting backlinks from authority sights .
Posting comments on authority sites in your niche is the easiest way to get good quality backlinks. But first you need to find them.
Use Google Alerts to find new authority sites. Create some Google Alerts for some of the core keywords related to your topic/niche. Every once in a while you’ll be sent an email with a list of new pages/posts that match those keywords. Those sites are authority sites in Google’s eyes. They may not say so, but it’s implicit. After all, there’s a ton of content being added to the Web at any given point in time. Google would spend all of its time mailing updates to everyone without some kind of filtering. That’s why this works. If a site’s made it through Google’s filters, you know that Google thinks the site is worth looking at. And so you should.

Heres one I picked up from Jeremy Monroe at ITdrive.com.

Do a search for something like linkfromdomain:dmoz.org linkfromdomain:yahoo.com. Here you can see a result list of sites found in two separate authoritative directories. Simply adding a third website to the search list (say a competitor ranking higher than you) will show you where they are getting the link fuel.

Get backlinks from doing authority site searches.
Linking to specific results in authority sites like BBC & CNN could be an easy way to get you a valuable backlink.
example: http://search.cnn.com/search.jsp?query=netfreeinfo
The search results link out to external sites and the result page is cached by google. If you rank high enough for specific keywords or phrases, search seperately and gain a backlink for each search.

.edu backlinks
These are very difficult to get but the quality of links they often attract give them the added weight so overall in general .edu backlinks are pretty valuable. Do a search for site:.edu “keyword” and you will get results for sites based on your keyword.
You usually will have to know someone that works for a site or pay someone off to get these links but the Rhodes Brothers have found ways around this. I think I will throw down the whopping $12 and I will post what I find later.
